The digital photo picture frame is another term for a digital frame. Developed in 1999, most digital photo picture frames are approximately 8 by 10 inches with a high-resolution LCD screen. In addition to displaying digital pictures of family and friends, some models of digital photo picture frames can download images by famous artists, with the frame able to be updated with new photos or artwork easily.

The number of digital photo picture frame users is growing, with at least 20% of U.S. households creating digital photos this year with a scanner, digital camera or film digitizing service, with forecasts suggesting that there will be an estimated 6 million digital photo picture frames in the United States by the end of 2005.
