Digital Picture Frames
Digital picture frames are a category of consumer electronic products that are starting to grow in popularity, with many styles, sizes, and brands of digital frames available. Prices usually start around $150 for an average digital picture frame, though these prices are expected to continue to drop as the popularity of digital picture frames grows.
With a digital picture frame, you can create slideshows for your own household, share photos with friends and family, and even add audio or music to your images with some models. The digital picture frame can then be placed anywhere because they do not need to be connected to a computer once the images are loaded. Although digital picture frames cost more than a traditional picture frame, they are much more flexible and appealing in that numerous pictures can be shown in a slideshow and updated easily when, for instance, a grandchild goes through a new stage of development.
Digital picture frames appear to be a product that will be here for the long term, with the potential to capitalize on the swelling user base of digital cameras and the desire of these users to display their digital pictures outside of their computer. Americans bought more than 22 million digital cameras in 2005, adding billions of photos to the ones already on the hard drives of home computers, with very little likelihood of them ever getting printed or displayed. At the same time, less than 5% of U.S. households own a digital picture frame to easily display these, far too often, unseen digital pictures. The prices of digital picture frames are expected to continue falling as the frames catch on, which has been the case with the prices of other consumer electronics products that have dropped quickly. |
